3 reasons for optimism in Week 12

The Giants are coming off a win where the defense forced a season-high five turnovers (six total for the team) in Week 11 against the Commanders.

Bring on the Patriots, who have thrown the fourth-most interceptions in the NFL entering Week 12. Their -6 turnover ratio ranks 28th in the league.

Wink Martindale’s defense is going to have to take advantage of any opportunities for takeaways.

Last week, the Giants tied their season high for points scored in a game with 31.

Even with last week’s performance, the Giants still rank dead last in the league in points per game. The team immediately in front of them: the New England Patriots.

Because both teams have struggled to score points all season, they may come at a premium in Week 12.

This actually plays into the Giants’ favor as they won’t be expected to overcome a large margin should they fall behind, meaning they can rely more heavily on running back Saquon Barkley.

Just one month ago, after Tommy DeVito was forced to come into the game in relief of Tyrod Taylor. At the time, the Giants clearly did not trust him to throw the ball. Since then, he has undoubtedly improved each week.

After his three-touchdown performance last week, some fans are creating hype around DeVito.

Even so, at the bare minimum, Devito’s getting more comfortable in the Giants offense and his confidence is higher than it has ever been following his Week 11 performance.
