Zion Williamson to be traded before Thursday, per Bill Simmons
All signs are pointing to Zion Williamson and the Pelicans parting ways after four years together. According to a source who spoke to Bill Simmons, the former number one pick will be traded before Thursday.
“I had somebody yesterday that I trust that told me that Zion will no longer be on the Pelicans come Thursday,” Simmons said, via NBA Retweet.
Williamson, who was consensus number draft pick in 2019, has been dealing with health issues since entering the NBA. He played just 114 games over the four years in New Orleans. Zion missed the entire 2021-2022 season.
The Pelicans are preparing to make moves to get Scoot Henderson, the projected top three pick in this year’s NBA Draft. Reportedly, they are even considering trading Williamson, but the Hornets prefer Brandon Ingram instead.
NBA insider Brian Windhorst has recently said that there is no relationship between Zion and the Pelicans organization and minimal relationship with the players.
Williamson is on a five-year contract, estimated to be worth $194 million, per Spotrac.
