As for Ashlee, the Ashlee+Evan alum has spoken before about how important it is for her than she and Evan not only having a loving relationship, but one that is based on friendship.
“That friendship is so deep and it’s so amazing,” she told E! News in November. “He surprises me and he takes me to do fun things, so I feel like those moments where you step outside of just parenting and connect is so nice.”
But more than that, she sees the benefit in making sure they’re actively “listening to each other,” which she credits as not just the key to marriage, but also the key to parenting.
“Just to listen to your kids,” she said “and follow what they’re wanting and needing.”
