‘Yellowstone’ Season 5 Episode 11 Preview Teases Shifting Alliances And Distressing Doubts
When it comes to Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2, creator Taylor Sheridan is still keeping his cards close to chest.
Not only were certain scripts redacted on set to ensure maximum security, but Season 5 teaser trailers are barely giving viewers a glimpse at new footage. That said, after a nearly two-year drought without any Yellowstone teases, we’ll take whatever we can get.
After Season 5, Part 2 premiered on November 10, Yellowstone fans did get a lengthy minute-long look at what’s to come. However, the preview after Sunday’s Season 5, Episode 10, “The Apocalypse of Change,” was far more abbreviated. Still, fans are able to get some juicy takeaways ahead of Season 5, Episode 11 that pertain to shifting alliances, heightened emotions, and a future 9-1-1 call.
Warning: Spoilers ahead!
While we’ll have to wait until Sunday, November 24 to see what Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Kayce’s (Luke Grimes) next moves will be after her chilling realization that Jamie (Wes Bentley) and Sarah (Dawn Oliveri) were behind the death of her father (Kevin Costner), let’s dissect Paramount Network’s latest Yellowstone preview.
What’s In The Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 11 Preview?
The preview opens on a shot of the prized Dutton property as a Beth voiceover acknowledges, “There is no preserving this place. There is prolonging its collapse.”
Early on in Season 5, Episode 10, we see Beth float an idea by Rip (Cole Hauser) that their lives could be rich and full of travel and new experiences if they weren’t “shackled to that ranch.” Her comments suggest there could be a world in which Beth wipes her hands clean of and steps back from the weighty family responsibility, but Rip reminds her, “I chose to be shackled…I don’t want to travel.” The sense of duty to uphold the family legacy — especially after John’s death — definitely still remains, and when the alternative is having the ranch fall to Jamie, it seems hard to believe that Beth and the Dutton ranch fam will step back without a fight — even if they realize that preserving the property presents a whole slew of challenges.
Towards the end of Episode 10, Jamie also voices his intention to run for governor in a special election, and though it seems as if he only has Sarah and Market Equities behind him, the Episode 11 preview teases a shifting of alliances for John Dutton’s former colleagues Lynelle Perry (Wendy Moniz) and Clara Brewer (Lilli Kay). In the Season 5, Episode 11 teaser, Jamie is seen talking to both women, explaining, “My siblings will never sell. If we want it, we have to take it.”
Another shot shows Jamie standing beside Perry before a courtroom and cameras, as her voice warns, “Be careful what you undo, Jamie, and who you undo it for.”
Meanwhile, we also get a prime shot of Sarah looking stressed, as she should be! Although she says there’s nothing that connects her or Jamie to John’s death, as Jamie tells her in Episode 10, Beth knows. The latest teaser trailer shows Sarah standing with Jamie in a kitchen, asking him “What proof do they have?!” Thanks to last week’s Season 5, Part 2 teaser, however, we also know that’s the same scene in which Sarah appears to smash her phone with a hammer after Beth calls and asks, “You having fun yet?” (Fingers crossed the scene unfolds just like that and isn’t the product of misleading editing.)
While Beth will undoubtedly be out for revenge in Season 5’s final four episodes, the Episode 11 preview also shows her getting emotional outside the main house, which confirms the road ahead won’t be easy. That said, it seems she may have a key ally on her side: her brother Kayce (Luke Grimes).
In Episode 10, Beth calls Kayce and informss him that Jamie couldn’t even look her in the eyes and didn’t even bother to deny that he killed their dad, which prompts Kayce to make a call and inquire about a hit of his own. In Season 5, Episode 11’s preview, we see Kayce standing before what we can only assume is his father’s corpse and asking a masked medical professional, “If you were investigating a homicide what would you be looking for?” It seems Kayce knows in his gut that Beth is right. Now he’s searching for solid proof before he makes his next move.
Before the Episode 11 preview concludes, we see an officer breaking into a house at night and hear a dispatcher say, “9-1-1, what’s your emergency?”
Though it’s unclear at this time which future “emergency” the call will be about, the final scene in the preview trailer shows Jamie breaking down sobbing on the phone, so we can only assume things won’t go seamlessly for him either.
While we wait to see what Yellowstone‘s next installment has in store, be sure to catch up on the full Season 5, Part 2 teaser trailer and Decider’s coverage of the series to see what crucial details you missed.
