Mike Budenholzer revealed following the Milwaukee Bucks’ first-round series loss opener against the Miami Heat that the x-ray on the back of Giannis Antetokounmpo showed “clear” results, per Eric Nehm of The Athletic.

Antetokounmpo was hobbling late in the first frame after falling awkwardly upon going over Kevin Love, who contested him with a charge attempt. He went to the locker room following the sequence but proceeded to play.

Still, Milwaukee took precautionary measures and deactivated him for the rest of the game due to lower back contusion, registering six points and three boards in 11 minutes.

“There was [an] X-ray that was clear here, so we’ll monitor him, see how he does – see how he wakes up, how he feels the rest of tonight and tomorrow,” Budenholzer told reporters Sunday after their 130-117 defeat against Miami.

On the other hand, the Heat got unfortunate news about Tyler Herro, who meanwhile broke his right hand at the series opener. Coach Erik Spoelstra said in his postgame availability that the hot-shooting guard won’t be suiting up again for the team’s playoff exploits this 2023.

With both teams being short handed now, their dogfight series will continue on Wednesday as the Heat draw first blood behind Jimmy Buter’s 35-point heroics.
