New Minnesota Timberwolves president  Tim Connelly has offered some high praise for Anthony Edwards.

He believes that the sky’s the only limit for the 20-year-old talent to reach his fullest potential.

“The guy can be as good as anybody in the world,” Connelly said of Edwards, per Chris Hine of Minneapolis Star-Tribune. “That type of talent, he’s certainly got the winning DNA that we’re all looking for.”

“So, I just don’t want him to ever lose that joy. It’s pretty special to watch a person who’s that comfortable in his own skin.”

With the Timberwolves, Edwards had a fruitful 2021-2022 season. He established a much higher average compared to his rookie campaign, added by an overwhelming feeling of tasting a postseason appearance for the first time in his career.

The University of Georgia product had a sophomore number of 21.3 points, 4.8 boards, 3.8 assists, 1.5 steals in 44 percent shooting over 72 games, and he’ll certainly continue to take many progressive leaps for years to come.

Now under the new leadership of Connelly, Minnesota is poised to become a West coast powerhouse, with Edwards being at the core together with Karl-Anthony Towns.

“We can’t skip steps to be an elite team,” Connelly further added. “He can’t skip steps to being an elite player. But there is no limit on what he can do. He can be the best player in the world.”
