Draymond Green was not offered a contract extension this past offseason, unlike Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins.

The four-time NBA champion has a player option for another year which he can exercise this summer. However, the expectation is that he will decline it.

To prevent losing Green for nothing, the Warriors should deal the forward before the February 9 trade deadline, says anonymous Western Conference executive.

Via Jack Simone of Heavy.com:

“They should [trade him this year],” a Western Conference executive told Deveney “If they made the decision that they’re not giving up any of the young kids, then that’s fine, but are you going to just keep chugging forward with what you’ve got? Obviously, the Draymond punch with [Jordan] Poole was a bigger deal than they let on, it is still dragging down that team. No doubt about it.”

This season Green is averaging 7.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 6.9 assists in 31.6 minutes per game.
