Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim says he can see progress in his squad during training, even if results are not going their way this season.
The Red Devils are languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table, and could fall as far as 16th by the end of the weekend.
It has been a tough transition period for the Red Devils since Amorim took over from Erik ten Hag, with the Portuguese boss yet to find any success with his change in system.
But he says in training things are improving but they must translate that into game situations.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, he said: “It’s more important in training, and what I am seeing in training is that they are improving and creating relationships. We are bonding and understanding the way we want to play.
“Even the sound of the training is different – when we are making an exercise, you feel the sound. People are talking, asking for the ball and giving directions.
“You can feel it in the environment, we are changing. It’s important to use that in the game.
“In some games that you think are more difficult, you feel that we can play and create situations and that is a good thing.
“In this moment, when you watch the games, you feel that there is more problems than solutions. We are capable, but we have to be consistent.”
“We have to use that in the game” 🔥

Returning players
Amorim has also offered a positive update on returning players from injury.
Despite losing Lisandro Martinez, Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo for the remainder of the season, there are a few key names available for the trip to Everton.
He added: “This week is better than last week because we didn’t lose players. Christian [Eriksen], Manuel [Ugarte] and Lenny [Yoro] return.
“Amad is a long time, Mason [Mount] and Luke [Shaw] continue to recover but I don’t have a date [for their return]. Toby [Collyer] is the closest, but not now. We have to adapt.
“Altay [Bayindir] and Tom are recovering. Again, we don’t have a date.”
Europa League draw
Earlier in the day, United were drawn against LaLiga side Real Sociedad in the Europa League last-16.
Amorim was quizzed on the draw but did not want to focus on a game that is still a few weeks away.
He said: “I just want to win against Everton. We are in a difficult situation in the Premier League and we have a lot of issues to solve in every game.
“If I see our performances, and focus on Real Sociedad or think about trophies in the moment, it is not the right way to do my job. I just want to win against Everton.”
