Trump accuses Democrats shielding Biden’s ‘cognitive abilities’ of the ‘biggest cover up in political history’

Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday accused Democrats shielding President Biden’s “cognitive abilities” of engaging in the “biggest cover up in political history.”

Trump, 78, made the argument during a campaign rally in Doral, Fla., his first in 11 days as the presumptive Republican nominee for president has watched a growing number of Democrats call for the 81-year-old president to end his re-election bid in the wake of his disastrous June 27 debate.

“Joe, Kamala and the entire Democrat establishment have been caught red handed in the thick of the biggest scandal and the biggest cover up,” the former president said, alleging a conspiracy involving Vice President Kamala Harris and other Democratic Party officials to hide Biden’s diminished cognitive abilities from the public.

“It’s a cover up, that’s what it is,” Trump argued. “I said it when they hid this guy in the basement.”

“It’s the biggest cover up in political history,”  he continued, calling it a “sinister plot to defraud the American public about the cognitive abilities of the man in the Oval Office.”

Trump accused Harris, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and others of being “in on it.”

“Every Democrat cabinet member was in on it. They all knew this guy was grossly incompetent, and every Democrat in the House and the Senate was in on it. It was a scam. The American people can never trust this group of liars ever again,” he said, arguing that the alleged conspiracy “put our country at great risk and danger.”

Trump, who held the rally on the 10th hole of his Doral golf course, also challenged Biden to a round of golf at the Miami-area resort, with a $1 million check for the charity of the president’s choice on the line if he were to win.

“I’m officially challenging ‘Crooked Joe’ to an 18 hole golf match right here,” the former president said, calling it a chance for Biden to “redeem himself in front of the entire world” after his poor debate showing.

“It will be among the most watched sporting events in history, maybe bigger than the Ryder Cup or even the Masters,” Trump argued. “And I will even give Joe Biden 10 strokes a side.”

“If he wins, I will give the charity of his choice, any charity that he wants, $1 million,” Trump declared.

Trump was joined at Tuesday’s rally by Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), who is considered to be on the former president’s short list for potential running mates.

The former president called Rubio a “friend of mine” despite the “vicious” 2016 GOP presidential primary cycle.

Trump suggested that the reporters covering his rally had expected him to announce Rubio as his VP pick.

“I think they probably think I’m going to be announcing that Marco is going to be vice president, because that’s a lot of press,” Trump said. “That’s a lot of press.”

He also quipped that Rubio “may or may not” be in the Senate to vote his proposed legislation to eliminate taxes on tips in 2025.

Also joining the former president was his youngest son, 18-year-old Barron Trump, whom his father called “a very special guy.”

“This is the first time he’s ever done this, Baron … stand up,” Trump said as his son rose up and gave the crowd a fist pump.

“You’re pretty popular,” Trump told his youngest son.

“He might be more popular than Don and Eric,” the former president added, referencing his other two sons.
