Travis Kelce explains his Andy Reid-inspired training camp mustache
We mustache Travis about this new season look.
Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce kicked off Season 3 of their “New Heights” podcast Wednesday, and during the new episode, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end gave listeners some insight into his training camp look.
“You lost some of your facial hair,” Jason, 36, remarked to his little brother as they launched into a discussion of the Chiefs player’s time at training camp and how he doesn’t “care” how he looks while there.
“Uh yes, well I always do the Andy Reid special, baby,” Travis, 34, joked, referring to the legendary Chiefs coach and his famous mustache.
While the three-time Super Bowl champion normally wears a full beard, he shaved it off to sport a full mustache with a clean-shaven face like his coach.
Jason, who retired from the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this year, was full of praise for his brother’s facial hair, noting, “It looks good. It looks clean.”
Although he ditched his beard, Travis did go with a longer look in terms of his hairstyle, with the NFL star explaining he “grew out the hair” to become “kind of like a different character with the ‘stache.”
“I switched it up,” he said. “I don’t got the buzz cut. I’m not as super trooper.”
At the end of the day, Travis — who just signed an Amazon deal worth more than $100 million for the podcast — said he was “just having some fun with it.”
“While I’m at training camp I really dont care how I look,” he noted. “I just to want to be there and try to make it the most enjoyable experience ever.”
Speaking of enjoyable experiences, the Chiefs star and Kentucky Derby fan has another reason to take in the races.
On Tuesday, horse-racing stable Team Valor International announced that Travis — who called girlfriend Taylor Swift the “best performer out here” during the episode — purchased a share of a racehorse aptly named Swift Delivery.
As for whether his new ‘stache gives him luck at the derby, watch this space.
