Chelsea are in negotiations with French club Saint-Etienne for 19-year-old midfielder Mathis Amougou, according to L’Equipe.
The outlet says the Blues first showed an interest weeks ago and are intensifying their efforts to sign the runner-up with France at the 2023 Under-17 World Cup, at which he was the third-highest scorer.
Amougou had featured in 17 of his club’s 19 Ligue 1 games this season before being left out of the matchday squad for their 4-1 defeat at Lille on Saturday.

Manchester United have turned down an approach from Italian top-flight side Como for 18-year-old forward Gabriele Biancheri, transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano says.
Wales youth international Biancheri spent nine years with Cardiff City before joining United in 2023. He is of Italian descent and has 16 goals in 16 appearances at youth level this season, including a hat-trick in the FA Youth Cup, three in four matches in the UEFA Youth League and two in five games in Premier League 2.

Ipswich Town are putting goalkeeper Alex Palmer through a medical after agreeing a £2m fee with Championship club West Bromwich Albion for the 28-year-old, according to the EADT and Ipswich Star.
The Tractor Boys, who are three points from safety in the Premier League, have lost Christian Walton to a groin injury, while £8m summer signing Aro Muric returned from five league games on the bench with an unconvincing performance in their 2-1 home defeat to Southampton on Saturday.

It’s not quite game, set and match in Everton’s move to sign midfielder Carlos Alcaraz on loan from Brazilian club Flamengo, but BBC Sport are reporting that the Argentina youth international was scheduled to have a medical on Sunday after the clubs reached an agreement on Friday.
New Everton manager David Moyes is understandably keen to add players to his squad and 22-year-old Alcaraz could become the Scot’s first signing for the Toffees since he snapped up John Stones from Barnsley for £3m in January 2013, during his first spell in charge.

Championship promotion contenders Sunderland will only allow Brighton to sign 18-year-old Tommy Watson if fellow winger Simon Adingra moves in the opposite direction, according to MailOnline.
The outlet says Albion have had an £8.5m offer plus add-ons rejected for Watson, who has five goals and three assists in five Premier League 2 appearances this season, as well as making 11 first-team appearances, including scoring both of the Black Cats’ goals in their 2-1 home win over Stoke City on December 7.
Former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille are said to have failed with a £20m bid for Adingra, the winner of the Best Young Player award at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which his Ivory Coast side won.
The 23-year-old has made 16 league appearances this season, providing two goals and one assist but only making six starts. He also scored in each of Brighton’s three EFL Cup matches.

West Ham are set to confirm the signing of Seagulls striker Evan Ferguson on loan after the Republic of Ireland international reportedly had a medical with the Hammers on Sunday, although Everton are being linked with a late move for the 20-year-old.
Ferguson made his Brighton debut under new West Ham manager Graham Potter in 2022 and went on to establish himself as one of the most promising forwards in the Premier League, but the former Bohemians hotshot has struggled for fitness and form this season, scoring once in 15 games.

West Ham have confirmed the return of midfielder James Ward-Prowse from his loan spell at Nottingham Forest.
The 30-year-old was on a season-long deal at the City Ground but made just 10 appearances for Nuno Espirito Santo’s high-flying side.
The clubs have come to an agreement for the former England international to return to the Hammers.

Burnley have signed winger Marcus Edwards from Sporting CP on loan until the end of the season.
The Clarets fended off interest from fellow Championship high-flyers Sunderland to snap up the 26-year-old, who worked with boss Scott Parker when the pair were at Tottenham.
Edwards told the Burnley website: “It feels amazing. Burnley is like a Premier League club. I’m really happy to be here.
“I know Scott from my time at Spurs. I know what he’s like. He’s ambitious, he’s driven. We had a good relationship back then so when I knew he wanted me to come that was enough for me.”
“From knowing what he’s like and how he is and the fact that Burnley is such a big club in general. It made sense.”

Albion have also said farewell to two prospects for undisclosed fees on permanent deals: Benicio Baker-Boaitey, 21, has joined Championship club Millwall, having made five Premier League appearances for the Seagulls.
Northern Ireland defender Ruairi McConville has moved to one of Millwall’s rivals, Norwich City. The 19-year-old made his Brighton debut at Norwich in the FA Cup third round on January 11.
The Athletic report Manchester City are looking to sign Porto midfielder Nico Gonzalez.
The 23-year-old can operate in the defensive midfield role that City have struggled with following the season-ending injury to Rodri.

One or two early moves this morning.
RB Leipzig have signed Aston Villa defender Kosta Nedeljkovic on loan until the end of the season.
Villa are short of bodies at the back but have still sanctioned the switch that will see the 19-year-old Serbian join the Bundesliga club.
Nedeljkovic told the Leipzig website: “Since the first contact, I really wanted to take this option, because the club consistently relies on young players and gives them the chance to develop.”

Lloyd Kelly has passed his medical at Juventus and is poised to complete a move from Newcastle.
The defender, who joined the Magpies over the summer, will join the Bianconeri on an initial loan deal before Juventus making the deal permanent in the summer.
Another player who could be moving to Serie A is Joao Felix, with reports this morning suggesting the Chelsea forward is a target for AC Milan.
Fabrizio Romano will be a busy man today.
He has claimed Tottenham’s bid to sign Axel Disasi has stalled as the player wants to join Aston Villa. However, Chelsea won’t sanction his move to Villa Park as Unai Emery’s side are Champions League rivals.

Deadline day has finally arrived and there are several clubs scrambling around trying to make last-minute moves.
Arsenal‘s long pursuit of a centre forward could take another twist, although their 5-1 mauling of Manchester City yesterday may have changed the thinking at the Emirates.
City were a shambles in the last 20 minutes and, despite already investing heavily in this window, Pep Guardiola may request further reinforcements.
Talking of a shambles, there’s Manchester United. They may have got rid of Marcus Rashford but surely they need to bring some bodies in if they want to move into the top half of the Premier League.
Chelsea will do business, because they always do. However, it may be more outgoings than incomings with Joao Felix, Ben Chilwell and Axel Disasi all rumoured to be close to departing Stamford Bridge.
Do Liverpool need to do anything? Perhaps not but we will see!
Stay with us for all the big moves throughout the day!
