There’s optimism on deal for Grant Williams – report

Grant Williams is eligible to sign rookie extension until October 17. The Celtics forward is on a four-year contract with Boston and is set to enter the final year of his current deal.

If he does not sign the extension, Williams will become a restricted free agent next summer. According Sean Deveney, the players and the team were in talks earlier this offseason, but not agreement was reached.

However, there is optimism that the two sides will sign a new deal before the deadline.

Last season Williams averaged 7.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1 assist in 24.4 minutes per game for the Celtics.
