Zelda fans can now get the Great Deku Tree Lego set at major retailers. Launched last September as a Lego Store exclusive, the first building set based on The Legend of Zelda is now available at Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and Target. The superb 2,500-piece Great Deku Tree Display Model is a 2-in-1 package that lets fans build the Deku Tree as depicted in Breath of the Wild or Ocarina of Time.

It’s worth noting the Great Deku Tree is currently on backorder from the Lego Store and won’t ship for two months, so it’s certainly possible other retailers will sell out, too. As of now, all major retailers have the Great Deku Tree in stock and can ship it now. Lego The Legend of Zelda: Great Deku Tree costs $300, but My Best Buy Plus/Total members save 10%, which drops the price down to $270. My Best Buy Plus costs $50/year, so new members will already be getting $30 of that fee back with this one purchase. The Great Deku Tree Lego set comes with four minifigures, two from each game. For Ocarina of Time, you’ll get Young Link with Deku Shield and Kokiri Sword accessories as well as Link with his magical ocarina. The Breath of the Wild (and Tears of the Kingdom) side of the set includes Link and Princess Zelda minifigures. Link has a sword and the Traveler’s Shield, while Zelda has the Sheikah Slate.
Plenty of other brick-built characters are included as well: Koroks, Deku Babas, a Deku Sprout, Navi the Fairy, a Skulltula, and a maracas-shaking Hestu. Where things get interesting is in the finished build, as the Breath of the Wild version of the Great Deku Tree has an animated face that can be controlled with a lever on its back, while the Ocarina Of Time version has an opening mouth that reveals a Skulltula monster.
When you build the Breath of the Wild version, there’s a recreation of the spot in the Lost Woods where Link retrieves the Master Sword. The Master Sword can be removed from its block pedestal and held by a Link minifigure, but this is why the set also comes with a sword that’s not the Master Sword.
The Master Sword display can be removed and reconnected later if you decide to switch to the Ocarina of Time version. You’ll also build Link’s house from Ocarina of Time. This cool smaller-scale build and all of the minifigures are pieced together first, so even if you build the Deku Tree as seen in Breath of the Wild, you’ll still have the house to display alongside it or separately.
The Great Deku Tree is part of Lego’s display model series, which means it’s packaged in a black box and is recommended for experienced builders. It’s a fairly intricate build with lots of small and differentiated pieces. I’ve built all of the Nintendo-themed Lego display models, and I’d say it’s slightly more detail-oriented than the other models with similar piece counts (Lego NES and Mighty Bowser).
As a longtime Zelda fan, I thoroughly enjoyed both build processes, and the finished product(s) makes for an extremely cool collectible to display.
If you haven’t built a 2-in-1 Lego set before, you should know that you are building one or the other, not both. The way it works is that the first chunk of the build is the same for both models. About halfway through the process, you need to choose between the Breath of the Wild and Ocarina of Time versions of the Great Deku Tree. The Breath of the Wild build, shown above, is the larger of the two.
What I did was build the Ocarina of Time model first, partially dismantled it, and then built the Breath of the Wild version. It’s well-designed, so this process of switching between the two styles isn’t as bad as it may sound–just make sure you keep the pieces for each in a safe place in case you want to switch at a later date.

There are only six Nintendo-themed Lego sets categorized for adults. Beyond the Great Deku Tree, the other five kits focus on Super Mario. In October, Lego released a Super Mario World-inspired pixel art model kit featuring Mario and Yoshi. The 1,215-piece Mario and Yoshi Lego set costs $130 and is currently in stock at most major retailers. The cheapest Lego Nintendo display model is the 540-piece Piranha Plant, which is on sale for $48 at Walmart and Target (it’s sold out at Amazon).

Lego released over 100 new sets on January 1, including the aforementioned Mario Kart series as well as playsets based on Animal Crossing, Sonic the Hedgehog, Minecraft, and more. The Great Deku Tree isn’t the only video game-inspired set that dropped its Lego Store exclusivity in 2025; all four building sets in the new Lego Fortnite series are now sold at major retailers, too.
