Usman Garuba is playing his second season in the NBA. After appearing in just 24 games for the Rockets last year, he has already played 44 games this year.

While his usage has not increased dramatically, Houston’s head coach Stephen Silas says he sees improvement in the 20-year-old Spanish international.

“He wasn’t even in the mix last year, and now he’s getting quality minutes, and he’s taking advantage of those minutes,” Silas said, per Adam Spolane. “He’s switchable. He rebounds the ball, I think he’s take a little bit of a dip lately, but overall, if you’re asking about the overall improvement, I definitely see it.”

This season Garuba is averaging 3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1 assist in 14 minutes per game.
