Steph Curry happy about Andrew Wiggins’ return to Bay Area
Stephen Curry can’t be more gratified to see Andrew Wiggins finding himself back in the Bay Area.
“He’s one of us,” said Curry in postgame after the Golden State Warriors 136-125 home win against Oklahoma City Thunder. “We talked about the whole time. When he came back was the right time and considering everything he’s been through, and we love his presence.
“Just having him in the locker room was big, having to see him on the court is much but it was great to have him back, to say the least.”
Wiggins was unavailable from Feb. 13 as he went on to attend the medical attention of his father, Mitchell Wiggins. He proceeded to make himself available to the team once again this Tuesday and went on to address the media for the first time but wasn’t able to play yet.
Despite not wearing the Warriors gear, Wiggins assured his support for the defending champs against OKC by sitting on the sidelines all game long. He received an overwhelming standing ovation from the entire Dub nation within Chase Center – showing their delight that their star wingman is finally back.
“That’s what it’s about. I understand how much he’s been embraced by our fanbase, our organization,” said Curry. “That’s the love you show to your own.
“There’s been a lot of unnecessary conversation around him and the whole situation. You don’t really want to react to everything that goes on, as they say on the internet. But it’s just a matter of embracing him and giving him the spage to come back and enjoy basketball again, enjoy being around us.”
