Spartak Moscow & Wolfsburg poke fun at Man City over CL exit
A pair of clubs from across the continent have taken to social media over the last 24 hours, to poke fun at Premier League champions Manchester City.
This of course comes fresh on the back of Pep Guardiola’s troops being sent packing from the Champions League in heartbreaking fashion.
After carrying a 2-goal aggregate advantage into injury time at the Bernabeu, the Sky Blues looked an absolute certainty to book their spot in a finale meeting with Liverpool.
Real Madrid, and more specifically Rodrygo, though, had other ideas.
Los Blancos’ gifted young attacker, after being introduced off the bench, bagged a brilliant last-gasp double, setting the stage for Karim Benzema’s extra-time spot-kick to spark chaotic celebrations across the Spanish capital, in the process bringing an end to Man City’s ongoing pursuit of a first-ever Champions League crown.

And, as alluded to above, two other clubs from across Europe who were not at all shy in taking advantage of the opportunity to have some lighthearted fun at the expense of the Citizens came in the form of Spartak Moscow and Wolfsburg.
The former were quick to point towards the continued woes of Pep Guardiola’s men in attempting to bring an end to their European trophy drought, with Wolfsburg having highlighted Real Madrid’s famed comeback abilities, after themselves being the victims of as much back in the 2015/16 campaign:
Can confirm that we have the same amount of UCL trophies as Manchester City.

Magpies test
Turning attentions back towards the road ahead for City, Guardiola and co. will of course now have to put their Champions League heartbreak swiftly behind them, ahead of a return to domestic competition this weekend.
Amid their tense ongoing battle with Liverpool for the Premier League title, the Sky Blues are set to welcome Newcastle United to the Etihad on Sunday evening.
As things stand, City remain top of the pile in the English top-flight, but just a point clear of Jurgen Klopp’s Reds, themselves in line for a tough test when they play host to Antonio Conte’s Tottenham on Saturday night.
