Sony Announces 11 New PlayStation VR2 Games, Including The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR

Alongside announcing the release date and price of PlayStation VR2, Sony has additionally revealed 11 new games headed to the platform, including The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR.

As revealed by PlayStation.Blog, the full list of games also includes Crossfire: Sierra Squad, The Light Brigade, Cities VR – Enhanced Edition, Cosmonious High, Hello Neighbor: Search and Rescue, Jurassic World Aftermath Collection, Pistol Whip VR, Zenith: The Last City, After the Fall, and Tentacular.

All of these games are said to have a release window of 2023 and, while Sony has yet to confirm all the games that will be part of PS VR2‘s launch line-up on February 22, 2023, it did confirm that it is expecting more than 20 titles to be part of it.

The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR is being developed by Supermassive Games and is a “fast-paced roller coaster action-horror shooter where every move you make, and everything you see, could mean the difference between life and death.” This game will take players to a Ghost Ship, to 17th-century New England, beneath a desert, and to the World’s Fair Hotel to face “distorted apparitions,” “demonic incarnations of persecuted ‘witches,'” “vampires,” and “a sadistic serial killer,” respectively.

Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, there will be enemies that only move when you blink.

Crossfire: Sierra Squad is a new first-person shooter from Smilegate that will cast players as the leader of a fireteam placed in the “middle of a war over a top-secret biochemical weapon that has recently been discovered.” Crossfire: Sierra Squad will feature over 60 campaign missions and they can be played solo or with up to three other friends. There will also be an arcade mode, a realism mode, and a hardcore horde mode.

Funktronic Labs’ The Light Brigade is a single-player roguelike that is “filled with immersive gunplay and moody mystery.” The world is losing all the light it has left, and you are one of the last people still fighting against the ever-growing darkness. You will need to head to the Sunken World over and over again to take down the evil that is threatening this world, and you will do so with both guns and magic.

The Light Brigade will be a cross-buy title for both PS VR2 and PS VR.

Cities: VR – Enhanced Edition from Fast Travel Games is an adaptation of Cities: Skylines for PS VR2. This VR title aims to let players “build and manage the city of your dreams.” In VR, players will be able to view their city from the ground or high up in the sky, providing a new perspective in the genre.

Cities: VR – Enhanced Edition will “launch alongside PS VR2.”

Cosmonious High is the newest adventure from Owlchemy Labs, the developers behind Job Simulator and Vacation Simulator. This single-player adventure will let players become Prismi, a “rare alien species that can adapt to any situation.” When Prismi lands at a school with kids “plagued by mysterious malfunctions,” they will have to use their powers to save the day.

Hello Neighbor: Search and Rescue from tinyBuild Games and Steel Wool Studios tasks players with “outsmarting the neighbor” in a whole new way. Search and Rescue will take players back to Mr. Peterson’s house and will let them choose between six “little neighborhood heroes” who must face their fears and rescue their friend who is trapped in the “bizarre basement prison.”

Hello Neighbor: Search and Rescue will be a cross-buy title for both PS VR2 and PS VR.

Coatsink’s Jurassic World Aftermath Collection combines both games set between Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom that feature a voice cast led by Laura Bailey and the return of Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm. Not only will you get to feel the scale of the dinosaurs as you try to survive on Isla Nublar, but a new mode called The Dino Viewer will serve as a “living museum” where you can get close to your favorite dinos without the fear of being eaten.

Pistol Whip VR is the “award-winning physical action-rhythm game where thrilling gunplay and dynamic tracks collide, creating a dreamscape world for players to blast, duck, and dodge their way through to become the ultimate action hero.” This new version will take advantage of PS VR2’s features by utilizing headset feedback, haptic feedback, finger touch detection, and very short load times.

Owners of Pistol Whip VR on PS VR will get a free upgrade to the PS VR2 version.

Zenith: The Last City will be a launch title for PS VR2 and will welcome players to the MMO that features a full story, immersive combat with weapons and spells, and much more. When it is released on PS VR2, it will do so with “hundreds of hours” of new content, a big graphics update, and the benefits of PS VR2’s unique features.

Zenith: The Last City will be a free download for all players who own the PS VR version.

After the Fall from Vertigo Games is a co-op shooter set in a post-apocalyptic version of Los Angeles, and it allows up to four players to team up to take on a world filled with 32 real players at a time. After the Fall first launched in December 2021, and its content has ‘more than doubled” since then. PS VR2 players will have access to it all from the start.

Tentacular from Firepunchd Games UG is a “charming VR game about a gigantic but good-hearted tentacled beast trying to figure out its place in the world.” This physics-based adventure includes a story filled with heart and humor, and the PS VR2 will let you feel even more like a beast from the deep. This includes eye-tracking where you can interact with the inhabitants of La Kalma by “simply looking at them,” enhanced audio-based haptics, adaptive triggers, and more.

These games will join such confirmed titles for PS VR 2 as Horizon Call of the Mountain and Resident Evil Village.
