Son goals ‘special’ for Spurs in South Korea

Son Heung-min scored twice in 10 minutes at the home of the South Korea team he captains as Tottenham raced into a 3-0 half-time lead against a Team K League XI.

The home side, made up of players from the South Korean top flight, fell behind when goalkeeper Jo Hyeon-woo – Son’s international team-mate – parried the forward’s shot into the path of Dejan Kulusevski to score the 29th-minute opener.

Skippering Spurs at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, Son struck nine minutes later and fired in his second two minutes into first-half added time.

“Some Sonny magic in Seoul,” Tottenham’s social media account responded, adding: “Heung-Min Son is special. Pass it on.”

Team K League XI vs Tottenham goals

Tottenham had to come from behind in the first match of their tour of Japan and Korea on Saturday, when goals by Pedro Porro and Son and 16-year-old Mikey Moore’s winner two minutes from time secured a 3-2 victory over Vissel Kobe at the Japan National Stadium.

Ange Postecoglou’s side were coasting in their second game until FC Seoul striker Stanislav Iljutcenko scored twice in three minutes to reduce the deficit to 3-2 with 36 minutes remaining.

Spurs scored a 67th-minute fourth through 19-year-old Will Lankshear, continuing the promising form of their prospects during pre-season.

They had hit the crossbar with the scoreline 1-0 through Lucas Bergvall, an 18-year-old compatriot and fellow midfielder of Kulusevski.

Moore’s winner against Vissel Kobe continued the prodigy’s momentum, having became the youngest Spurs player ever in the Premier League when he made his first debut in a 2–0 home defeat to Manchester City on May 14.

Tottenham fixtures, schedule

The match against the XI is the first of two for Tottenham at the World Cup Stadium, which has a capacity of almost 67,000 and opened for the 2002 Fifa World Cup, hosting three games at the finals.

Tottenham will return for a pre-season friendly against Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich on Saturday (12pm BST) in their final match before returning to England.

Bayern are their visitors for a friendly on August 10 (5.30pm), and their Premier League campaign starts at Leicester City nine days later (8pm).
