Ryan Phillippe is a straight shooter.
So when it comes to working with son Deacon Phillippe—the younger of his two children with ex-wife Reese Witherspoon—on his new series Motorheads, Ryan is happy to share exactly what it was like.
“It’s incredible,” he told E! News’ Will Marfuggi at the May 13 premiere of the Amazon Prime Video series. “It was the head writer’s idea for him to play this part, and I stepped out of the way I said, ‘Go ahead offer it to him, see what he thinks.’ I didn’t want to put pressure on anyone.”
The 23-year-old’s role in question? Playing the brother of Ryan’s character in flashback scenes, a concept the Cruel Intentions actor admitted was weird “in a way.”
“It’s also really cool,” Ryan—also dad to Ava Phillippe, 25, with Reese, and Kai Knapp, 13, with ex-girlfriend Alexis Knapp—noted. “We got to sit and talk to the showrunner about what our childhood was like, which is kind of an odd thing for father and son to get to discuss.
