Russell Westbrook embraces bench role as Clippers secure consecutive wins
In a strategic move during a six-game losing streak, Russell Westbrook willingly took a bench role for the Clippers, altering the team’s dynamic with Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and James Harden in the starting lineup.
Since the adjustment, the Clippers have secured back-to-back wins, most recently dominating the Spurs. Westbrook finished the game with 10 points, 2 rebounds and 6 assists in 25 minutes of play.
After the game, the 35-year-old point guard shared insights into his new role, stating, “Actually not sure. Just going out and doing what’s best for our team to win games and that’s it.”
When asked if his role coming off the bench differs from last year’s experience with the Lakers, Westbrook maintained focus on the overarching objective.
“Ultimate goal, like I said, just to win games and that’s all I can do – go out and compete, make sure we try to win games,” he said.
