The Houston Rockets are set to interview Ime Udoka on Wednesday for their head coaching vacancy, per Kelly Iko of The Athletic.

Udoka, 45, was already rumored a candidate as a potential newest Rockets bench boss since Stephen Silas parted ways with the club at the end of the 2022-23 season.

He notably led the Boston Celtics last season to a dramatic turnaround, a 51-win season which saw the franchise reaching an NBA Finals finish. He was suspended by the club in the late offseason due to his improper relationship with a female staffer.

Joe Mazzulla temporarily sat as the C’s interim mentor, and went on to replace Udoka as their head coach after powering Boston for another strong campaign.

Ex-Lakers coach Frank Vogel, Toronto Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin and Philadelphia 76ers assistant Sam Cassell are some of the significant names that are also being tagged in Houston’s head coaching opening.

Being a losing team for the last three seasons – posting a 59-277 record under Silas’ leadership – the Rockets are in dire need of a new voice and presence from the sidelines who will trampoline the organization for contention.
