Real Madrid star plays down exit rumours and says ‘stop creating things’

Real Madrid forward Rodrygo has played down speculation he is unhappy at the Santiago Bernabeu and asked people to “stop creating things”.

Reports in Spain have suggested the Brazil international wanted out of Madrid after a disruptive period that has seen him suffer from illness and injury amid rumours of discontentment with life at the club.

Rodygo was taken off at half-time in the Copa del Rey final defeat to Barcelona and missed the subsequent game against Celta Vigo. He returned to the squad for Sunday’s league clash with Barca but did not come off the bench.

And rumours started swirling when he left training yesterday after 15 minutes.

The 24-year-old attempted to shut down the speculation today by posting a picture of himself lying in a hyperbaric chamber, seemingly getting treatment for a leg injury.

He wrote: “Thank you for all the messages and concerns. I’ll be back soon. Stop creating things.”

The possibility of Rodrygo wanting to leave Madrid prompted a raft of stories about his next destination with Arsenal reported to be plotting an £85million bid.

Should incoming Madrid boss Xabi Alonso decide to sell the South American, there will be no shortage of takers for a player that has contributed 14 goals and eight assists for Madrid this season.
