Raptors hand Qualifying Offer on newly-reinstated Jalen Harris – report
As confirmed by various league sources, the Toronto Raptors have tendered a qualifying offer to Jalen Harris.
The Raps will have their rights on Harris for the upcoming season, who now turns into a restricted free-agent upon the handing of the said offer.
Harris, 24, was dismissed and suspended by the NBA last year upon violating the league’s anti-drug program. He was reinstated by the association earlier this week after one-year fulfilment of disqualification.
In the 2020-2021 season, Harris had some two-way stops with both Toronto and its G League affiliate Raptors 905. Following his suspension, he went to Italy and played for Vanoli Cremona. In May, he then suited up for the Canadian Basketball League’s Scarborough Shootings Stars.
In his first season with the Raps, he averaged 7.4 points, 1.4 boards, 1.3 assists on 50 percent shooting from the field for 13 games of play. He had a much more impressive outing in G League with 17.6 markers-average for seven games with 905.
Harris was chosen for the 59th pick of the 2020 Draft, and his status now will still be tight considering that the team’s roster is loaded and can only allow 15 players entering the 2022-2023 campaign.
