Quentin Grimes on guarding Luka Doncic in his 60/21/10 game: “I promise I was trying for sure”

Knicks guard Quentin Grimes had a tough task of guarding Luka Doncic, one of the best offensive players in the league.

The Slovenian superstar had a career night as he recorded a history-setting triple-double of 60 points, 21 rebounds and dished out 10 assists.

After the game Grimes was asked abut guarding Doncic in this game. The 22-year-old shooting guard, who scored 33 points himself, said he did his best to stop his opponent.

“I promise I was trying for sure,” Grimes said about guarding Doncic. “I mean, I’m trying to go over every pick and roll he’s in, almost every action, so it’s just it was a lot on me trying to get over every pick and roll with him.

“He’s crafty with the ball, without the ball. He’s all the time on the court. He’s one of the top three players in this league for a reason. He showed that tonight. So I got to tip my hat off for sure.”
