Prince Harry stayed at late mom Princess Diana’s childhood home during UK visit for uncle’s funeral: report

Prince Harry may have burnt some royal bridges with his explosive departure from the royal fold in 2020, but it appears as though the duke still has some family left to rely on.

The Duke of Sussex, who was mulling over a solo dash to home soil in previous weeks, went in full incognito mode last week as he attended his uncle’s funeral in the UK solo.

During the blink-and-you-miss-it trip, which was kept under wraps, Harry stayed with his uncle Charles Spencer at Althorp House — the childhood home of his late mother, Princess Diana, People reports.

Lord Robert Fellowes, who was married to Diana’s sister, Lady Jane Fellowes, and served for a time as the late Queen Elizabeth II’s private secretary, died of undisclosed causes on July 29. He was 82.

He was honored at a memorial service on Aug. 29 — just two days before the 27th anniversary of Diana’s death.

Diana, who died at age 36 on Aug. 31, 1997, was laid to rest on the island in the middle of Round Oval Lake at Althorp.

In addition to Harry and Spencer, last week’s service was also attended by Prince William, 42, and Diana’s other sister, Lady Sarah McCorquodale.

Although both Harry and his estranged brother were in attendance at St. Mary’s Church in Snettisham, Norfolk, the feuding brothers sat separately.

The funeral marked the first time the feuding brothers were under the same roof since their father, King Charles’ coronation in May 2023. 

An insider told The Post that Prince Harry went to the funeral “in a personal capacity,” adding that his trip was not extended.

Harry reportedly stayed in close contact with his aunt and his cousins, as well as Spencer, following his uncle’s death.

Harry has maintained a close relationship with the Spencer family over the years — even after he quit royal life in 2020 and moved to the US with his wife Meghan Markle.

The father of two met up with Charles and Lady Jane, 67, in May during the 10th anniversary of his Invictus Games in London.

The duke was pictured hugging the pair as they arrived at St. Paul’s Cathedral for the event. However, Harry did not meet up with any members of the royal family during the three-day trip.
