Why Prince Harry Unexpectedly Quit the Charity He Founded in Princess Diana’s Honor

Prince Harry’s legal fight has ended.

While he had filed an appeal to dismiss a prior decision that upheld the U.K. government’s choice to cut Prince Harry’s security protection (through the Royal and VIP Executive Committee) now that he is no longer a senior working member of the royal family, on May 2 three judges dismissed his appeal.

While judges Lord Justice David Bean, Lord Justice Andrew Edis and Sir Geoffrey Vos conceded Harry’s counsel made “powerful and moving arguments, and that it was plain that the Duke of Sussex felt badly treated by the system,” as see in documents obtained by NBC News, the judges “could not say that the Duke’s sense of grievance translated into a legal argument for the challenge to RAVEC’s decision.”

Harry’s security detail was first scaled back after he and Meghan Markle took a step back as working members of the royal family in 2021 amid their decision to move their family, including kids Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3, to the United States. In the years since, however, Harry has sought the right to security detail when he is visiting the country.
