The Premier League has granted Tottenham’s request to move their game at Aston Villa to Friday, May 16.
Spurs asked for the fixture to be brought forward two days to give them more time to prepare for a potential Europe League final against Manchester United the following Wednesday.
United’s game at Chelsea that weekend was already slated for the Friday – although it now has a new kick-off time – and the Premier League has acted to give both clubs equal rest ahead of a possible clash in Bilbao.
While not yet confirmed – the second legs of the semi-finals take place this Thursday – it seems likely to be a United versus Spurs final.

United secured a stunning 3-0 win at Athletic Bilbao last week while Spurs overcame Bodo/Glimt 3-1 in North London.
The fixture changes will have an impact on the race to secure Champions League football next season with Chelsea and Villa both chasing a top-five finish.
It is believed Villa objected to Tottenham’s request to move the game as, with it being their final home game of the season, they had a number of pre-planned family activities scheduled for the Sunday afternoon.
When will the fixtures now be played?
Aston Villa v Tottenham – May 16 (7.30pm)
Chelsea v Manchester United – May 16 (8.15pm)
Can I watch the games on TV or via a stream?
Yes, both games will be screened by Sky Sports and will be available on the Sky Go app.
