Pistons HC Dwane Casey hoping to retain soon FA Bojan Bogdanovic long term: ‘I’d love to have him back’

On behalf of the Detroit Pistons, Dwane Casey is already loving what he sees on newcomer Bojan Bogdanovic.

As such, he is hoping that the veteran will consider making a return next summer.

“I’d love to have him back,” Casey said about Bogdanovic, via HoopsHype’s Mike Scotto. “He’s a free agent. Hopefully, he has a good experience with us and finds a good home with us. Everybody needs a guy like that who knows how to play and can shoot the ball. Hopefully, we can entice him to stay. If he doesn’t, he helps us, and we help him. He’s a pro. He’ll have a big role for us this year.”

As a response, Bogdanovic can’t be delighted enough.

“I’m here only for a couple of days, but if they’re open for that (extension), we’ll see what’s going to happen.”

Bogdanovic, who was acquired by the Pistons in a shocker trade from the now rebuilding Utah Jazz, has been receiving positive reviews so far from the franchise due to his professionalism and leadership. His three-point marksmanship can only be beneficial for the up and coming Detroit squad who tallied an abysmal 32.6 percent shooting from the arc last season – which ranks at the bottom 29th spot.

But given that Bogdanovic is looking for an extension as what veteran insider Marc Stein reported from the past, it is yet to be seen on how the Pistons will handle their potential intent to extend that partnership. At least a Play-in appearance soon may perhaps help for both sides to hammer one.

The Croatian cager is entering a contract year this 2022-23 campaign worth $19.55 million. If the Pistons are ready upon the assessment and continuing signs of solid contribution from Bogdanovic, a deal can be landed as soon as possible.
