Pelé Dead at 82: How to Watch the Movie About Soccer Star’s Life

Pelé, the soccer legend, has died. He was 82.

His death was confirmed by his daughter Kely Nascimento, who shared the sad news on Instagram. Nascimento wrote, “Everything we are is thanks to you. We love you infinitely. Rest in peace,” per NPR.

The news of his death comes after reports that the Brazilian soccer legend had been in poor health. According to CNBC, doctors previously said the athlete had been undergoing “elevated care”  because of “kidney and cardiac dysfunctions” caused by cancer. He was also battling a respiratory infection.

Pelé’s death means the loss of one of soccer’s biggest stars, who was often regarded as one of the best players of all time in the sport. Throughout his career, Pelé scored over 1,000 goals (earning him a Guinness World Record) and became the youngest player to score in a World Cup at just 17 years old.
