‘One Tree Hill’ Star Jana Kramer Says She’s ‘Ready’ To Return For Netflix Reboot

Jana Kramer, best known for her role as Alex Dupré in the final three seasons of The CW’s One Tree Hill, has shared her excitement about potentially returning to the character in the upcoming sequel series.

The revival, currently in development at Netflix, will feature original cast members Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton both reprising their roles as Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer, respectively, while serving as executive producers.

The project is helmed by Becky Hartman Edwards, who writes and executive produces in partnership with Warner Bros. TV.

In an interview with E! News, Kramer shared her enthusiasm about the possibility of joining the sequel, saying, “They’re gonna get their footing of the show but I think they’re open to bringing back characters. So, I hope I get the opportunity. It sounds like there’s a window for that. I’m ready if it comes calling.”

Reflecting on her love for reboots and revisiting familiar characters, she added, “I love watching rebooted shows and then seeing old characters come back.”

Kramer also speculated on where Alex Dupré might be 12 years after her last appearance. “I feel like there’s so much of Alex that’s a piece of me,” she said. “Though I didn’t go through some of the things she went through, I’ve had harder times, too. So, I want to believe that she’s done some healing work, but she’s still who she is, she still causes a little bit of a stir.”

The actress previously hinted at her interest in the sequel on her Whine Down podcast, revealing conversations with Burton about her character’s potential return. “We had discussed it before the news broke… It was probably a month or so ago,” Kramer said. “I think their intention is to bring back people that make sense. And Hilarie was like, ‘I never got to meet Alex, so it’d be fun to have us meet.’ And I’m like, ‘I would love that. Sign me up.’”

Jensen Ackles and Danneel Ackles are also involved as executive producers through their Chaos Machine banner, with Danneel reportedly in talks to reprise her role as Rachel Scott. Emily Moss Wilson is attached as a producer.

Originally created by Mark Schwahn, One Tree Hill first premiered in 2003 and aired for nine seasons on The WB and later the CW. The sequel series is set 20 years after the original, following Brooke and Peyton as they navigate parenthood with teenage children while grappling with themes of love, insecurities, and grief—familiar challenges from their younger years.

The beloved coming-of-age drama also starred Chad Michael Murray, James Lafferty, Bethany Joy Lenz, Austin Nichols, Antwon Tanner, and Paul Johansson.
