One player New York Giants would steal from Panthers

The New York Giants (2-7) will visit the Carolina Panthers (2-7) at Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany this Sunday morning.

That, of course, provides those of us here at Giants Wire the opportunity to hypothetically steal from the Panthers’ roster in search of depth and/or talent upgrades for Big Blue for the second time this season.

The issue facing us this week is that Carolina’s roster is quite shallow, much like the Giants’ roster. They are in the early stages of a rebuild and have very little to choose from at the top of the depth chart.

One strongly considered option is offensive tackle Ikem Ekwonu, who would make sense for the Giants with Andrew Thomas out for the season. However, Jermaine Eluemunor has played solid football at right tackle and Thomas will reassume his role at left tackle next year.

After that, there’s not much. Only one other name stood out as both a need and an upgrade: Cornerback Jaycee Horn.

While Horn is not an elite-level cornerback, he is very consistent and capable. He’s stout against the run — one of the best in football at the position — and grades out highly in coverage. One weak area is his inability to blitz and rush the passer, but that’s not really what the Giants need.

With Deonte Banks struggling on a weekly basis and displaying a lack of effort, Horn would immediately become CB1 in New York and upgrade the entire secondary.

What are your thoughts, Giants fans? Would you pick Jaycee Horn or would you steal an entirely different player from the Carolina Panthers?
