Preston Ordone’s grandfather is speaking out.
After the Louisiana State Police Department confirmed the 2-year-old TikTok star’s death April 24, his grandfather is disputing the department’s claims that Preston—also known as Okay Baby—was “improperly restrained in a child safety seat.”
Glen Norris, the father of Preston’s mother Katelynn Ordone and father-in-law of his dad Jaelan Ordone—who both sustained injuries in the fatal accident—alleged that a witness who arrived at the scene of the accident said the toddler was properly restrained in his seat.
Glen told NOLA.com on April 25 that he was informed by the witness that when he removed Preston from the vehicle, the toddler was properly restrained in the seat. Furthermore, Glen called the police’s statement “hurtful and painful.”
The preliminary police investigation found that Katelynn and Jaelan’s 2011 Ford F-150 truck veered off the road and struck a tree shortly before 11:50 a.m. in St. Tammany Parish, approximately 50 miles north of New Orleans, according to the Louisianna Police Department. They were taken to nearby hospitals, where Katelynn and Jaelan are recovering. Preston died at the hospital, after suffering critical injuries.
