OBJ making Cowboys fans sweat with another cryptic tweet is tremendous theatre

OBJ posted a cryptic tweet quoting song lyrics, making Cowboys fans wonder if something has gone wrong with negotiations to land the free agent WR.

Is Odell Beckham Jr. going to play for the Dallas Cowboys or not?

That’s the question that still doesn’t have a very clear answer even though it looked all wrapped up on Friday morning.

Quotes from Jerry Jones had Cowboys fans celebrating the idea of the star WR joining them for a playoff run before the receiver threw some cold water on the idea with some cryptic tweets.

“Ion back n forth over no net, so just gon dead it….” Beckham Jr. posted on Friday afternoon.

What does that even mean?

It appears to be a lyric from the Drake song “Jumbotron S— Poppin.”

The song goes like this: “I don’t back and forth over no net, so just go on and dead it.”

Drake’s line is probably a reference to social media interactions. It could be as simple as Beckham Jr. telling people on social media that he doesn’t bother with back-and-forths.

It could also mean he doesn’t bother with back-and-forths in general…like what sometimes happens in contract negotiations.

Some on Twitter interpreted it that way at least.

This all comes after Jerry Jones made comments indicating Beckham Jr. could sign with the Cowboys soon.

“Odell’s going to join us,” Jones told USA Today on Thursday. “There’s a good chance he will, with the complete goal of getting ready for a playoff game or two, and then I’ll look to the future. But most of it being about now.”

The wide receiver sent quite a few tweets in the hours after that quote was published on Friday morning, saying things like “God got somethin bigger planned…” and “From here until it’s time… Every step is calculated and no wasted motions… is it what it is.”

It was a few hours after those tweets were posted that Beckham Jr. added to the speculation with his Drake lyric.

He’s not tweeting like a player who is on the verge of signing with a team. So the wait is on.
