Nottingham Forest snap up giant goalkeeper Miguel

Nottingham Forest have signed goalkeeper Carlos Miguel from Corinthians on a four-year deal.

The 25-year-old, who stands at 6ft 8in tall, made 14 appearances for Corinthians last season and will compete with Matz Sels and Matt Turner for the number one shirt at the City Ground.

Miguel told the club’s official website: “I’m really happy and honoured to represent this club.

“Just seeing the stadium and feeling the energy within it, I can’t wait to be on the pitch to help Nottingham Forest win.

“The Premier League is one of the most important leagues in the world.

“Everyone worldwide watches the Premier League and it’s no different in Brazil.

“I genuinely watch a lot of it, so I’m so happy to be a part of it today.”

Miguel follows the same path as central defender Murillo, who swapped Corinthians for Forest last summer. Miguel admitted he sought Murillo’s advice before committing to the move.

“Yes, absolutely, the first information came from Murillo,” he added.

“I asked him about the club and also the city. I asked how the club works as it’s so important to know everything beforehand.

“He said great things and was exuberant about this club, which made me really happy.

“He only had good things to say, I trust him and believe this is the place for me.”
