It could just be precautionary but Nabers is not practicing on Friday. The injury was originally reported to be a groin on Thursday and was limited. On Friday, Head Coach Brian Daboll, said Nabers was dealing with a hip issue.
“It’s his other side,” Daboll said at his pre-practice presser. “He’s got a hip flexor. He just got looked at by the doctors. He got an MRI. He’s in there with (senior vice president of medical services) Ronnie (Barnes) right now and they’re not ruling him out right now.”
Daboll said that the team is not ruling Nabers out for this Sunday’s game versus the New Orleans Saints.
Nabers has played in 10 games this season with 75 receptions for 740 yards and three touchdowns. He missed two games in October with a concussion.
The sixth overall selection in the 2024 NFL draft, Nabers ranks second among rookies in receptions behind Las Vegas tight end Brock Bowers (84) and is fourth in receiving yards.
Nabers has the most receptions by a player in their first 10 career games in NFL history and is the first player ever with five or more catches and 50-plus receiving yards in nine of his first 10 career games.
Nabers has been targeted 116 times in his 10 games played this season, ranking him third in the NFL in that category behind Dallas’ CeeDee Lamb and Garrett Wilson of the Jets.
Nabers’ 166 targets account for 29.9 percent of the Giants’ total targets on the season.
