New York Giants vs New Orleans Saints Player of the Game: Jamie Gillan
The New York Giants suffered a crushing defeat against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday afternoon.
The Giants were a few games removed from their last blowout defeat but the team returned to form in Week 15, losing 24-6 in the Caesars Superdome.
This New York team is far less talented than New Orleans and it was on full display. The best example of this is the player of the game, Jamie Gillan.
Yes, the punter was the best player for Big Blue on Sunday.
Gillan did play a solid game on Sunday as he averaged 47.6 yards per punt, nailing one of his five attempts inside of the 20-yard line. He also served as a replacement kicker for Randy Bullock as the latter went down with an injury in the first half.
Gillan ended up making his only field goal attempt from 40 yards out right down the middle.
However, Gillan earning player of the game is more representative of how poorly the Giants played. In a game that would have potentially put the Giants in playoff position, the whole team came out flat.
With this loss the Giants fall to 5-9 and their playoff hopes are all but over.
