The New York Giants will have 30 free agents once the new league year begins in March and one of those will be quarterback Tommy DeVito.

The 26-year-old DeVito is slated to become an exclusive rights free agent (ERFA), meaning he is unable to negotiate with any other teams. If the Giants tender him an offer, he must sign it or sit out the 2025 season.

Should the Giants not tender DeVito an offer, he will become unrestricted and free to sign with any other team.

However, that does not appear to be in their plans as general manager Joe Schoen insinuated on Monday.

“You look at the roster right now, Tommy is the only quarterback on the roster,” Schoen said.

Shortly after Schoen’s comment, ESPN’s Jordan Raanan confirmed that the Giants do intend to bring DeVito back for the 2025 season.

DeVito, a New Jersey native who signed with the Giants as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2023, has appeared in 12 games for the team. He’s earned a record of 3-5 as a starter, completing 65.3 percent of his passes for 1,358 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions.

DeVito has also added 227 yards rushing and one rushing touchdown.

In 2023, DeVito burst onto the season and carried the Giants to several unexpected wins, and the legend of Tommy Cutlets was born. That moniker has carried over even though DeVito has sought to escape from it.

With the Giants expected to add several quarterbacks this offseason, DeVito will likely complete for the QB2 role and ultimately serve as QB3.
