New York Giants NFL power rankings round-up going into Week 18
The New York Giants couldn’t deliver an upset on New Year’s Eve, falling to the Los Angeles Rams, 26-25, in a game they could have won if not for a multitude of self-inflicted wounds.
The loss dropped the Giants to 5-11 on the season. Their final game will come on Sunday in the late afternoon window against the Philadelphia Eagles.
As we enter Week 18, here’s a look at where the Giants place in a multitude of power rankings.

You’d like to see a more well-rounded game from OLB Kayvon Thibodeaux, but he’s nearly tripled his rookie sack total (4) to 11½ as a sophomore.

The Giants put up a good fight against the Rams. They got a special-teams TD from Gunner Olszewski. They didn’t get a 54-yard field goal from Mason Crosby that would have given them a late lead and likely a victory.

The Giants wanted to pull the upset against the Rams, but they came up short on their two-point conversion attempt that would have effectively won them the game. The Giants defense turned Matthew Stafford over twice, and Tyrod Taylor found some efficiency and explosiveness in his first game as a starter since October.

The Giants have showed their relentless DNA with defensive high effort and offensive reinvention regardless of QB. Brian Daboll should get a mulligan for his injury-marred mess of a second season.

Darius Slayton is having a strong finish to the season. The past two weeks, he has 196 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He’s 26 and has just a $2.5 million base salary next season. He might not be a true No. 1 receiver but he’ll be a good piece for the 2024 Giants.

The Giants are now assured of a top-five pick after Sunday’s loss. That’s a good prize for an organization that deserves little after spending $40 million on Daniel Jones after one fluke season.
