New York Giants bench Daniel Jones in favor of Tommy DeVito
The biggest question facing the New York Giants coming back from their bye week was the status of starting quarterback Daniel Jones.
The 2-8 Giants wasted no time on Monday morning, leaking the news that Jones will no longer be their starter, reports NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Head coach Brian Daboll isn’t scheduled to speak to the media until Wednesday but the team likely felt the issues needed to be addressed with the fans and media sooner.
As we stated earlier on Monday, it made no sense to continue on with Jones under center as they are almost certain to cut ties with him after this season.
Jones also has an injury guarantee clause worth $23 million that would kick in should he get injured in these final seven games. The Giants, naturally, would like to avoid paying that as they have doled out enough money on Jones the past two seasons.
The Giants will hand the reins over to second-year player Tommy DeVito, who gave them a boost last year by leading them to three wins in the second half of the season.

The team is apparently bypassing Drew Lock, who the Giants inked to a one-year, $5 million deal this past offseason.
The Giants are on pace to select in the top 10 in the 2025 NFL draft where they could have their pick of several talented young arms.
With the season gone, they are making the right decision here to sit Jones, who will only draw the ire of fans as they call for his imminent departure.
