A few notes as we get closer to the draft on Thursday.

  • With the 2022 NBA draft approaching, the Sacramento Kings are most likely trading their #4 pick, but to what team? Of all the teams ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski mentioned that are interested in Jaden Ivey (Pistons, Pacers, Wizards, & Knicks), I believe players from the Indiana Pacers give the Kings their best chance to make the playoffs based on what each team is willing to make available. It’s pretty obvious that the Detroit Pistons, Washington Wizards, and New York Knicks aren’t trading their stars and the Kings don’t want to miss the postseason for a 17th straight year, leaving Indiana as the club most likely to be interested in trading almost anyone. I don’t know if the Kings & Pacers would be willing to discuss another big time trade after the recent Haliburton for Sabonis deal. However, if I were to make the trade for the Kings, I would definitely have Myles Turner, Malcolm Brogdon, Chris Duarte, & Isaiah Jackson in mind.
  • Quick note: Woj also said that some teams outside of the lottery are interested in the 4th pick, but didn’t name them. Here’s a short article I wrote that includes 3 clubs who might want Ivey.
  • The Pistons may not get the 4th pick from the Kings in a trade, but they do have a good chance at getting the 7th pick from the Portland Trail Blazers. According to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto, executives are keeping an eye on Jerami Grant to Portland for the #7 selection. I recently mentioned the idea of Deandre Ayton being a solid fit for the Blazers, but Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer said on Thursday that Ayton isn’t on their radar.
