This guy got a second chance at life — and he’s lovin’ it.
A man whose heart stopped while at a McDonald’s is celebrating his miraculous survival — and the good samaritan who gave the victim CPR. The two have become inseparable.
Paul Myers, 70, fell victim to a heart attack inside the York, England burger joint just as guardian angel 60-year-old Brian Harris was fortunately walking by the eatery.
Myers had felt short of breath on the street and quickly ran into the McDonald’s for help around 9 a.m. on Nov. 27, 2023.
It was a coincidence that Harris, who worked nearby at a train station ran over to the shop for some coffee moments later.
“When I saw Paul he was on the floor and it looked like he’d hit his head,” Harris told the outlet.
In addition to chest compressions, Harris also used a defibrillator to keep Myers steady until an ambulance could arrive.
“I fought hard, I wasn’t going to give up, I was determined I was going to fight for his life,” Harris recalled.
After Myers was released from the hospital — he had no memory of what happened — the pair were put in touch with one another through social media.
Admittedly, Myers said it was hard to find the right thing to say when they first met.
“When we met up for the first time, he got there before me and said, ‘Mr Myers, it is so good to see you alive,” the survivor recalled.
“The only words I could give him were ‘thank you’.”
Since that meeting, Harris said that the two have become “lifelong friends.” They have seen one another on multiple occasions in the past year and two weeks.
“He is clearly a loving man, I am eternally grateful and can’t sum up in words how I feel about him,” added Myers.
