Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco have shared some insight into their private life in the palace, saying their two children are difficult to control.

In a rare interview, Albert — who tied the knot with Charlene in 2011 — opened up about leading the Monegasque monarchy since assuming the throne over two decades ago.

“What I am most proud of his my marriage and my children, first and foremost,” the 67-year-old told La Gazette de Monaco of his and Charlene’s 10-year-old twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella.

“I believe that the Principality has evolved on different levels,” he went on. “Physically, of course, with new projects that are not yet finished, such as the new hospital, but which are important events. There was Mareterra, but there are also other great achievements.”

“I also think that the creation of my Foundation was an important step, even if the government, through various actions, was helping sustainable development projects,” he added.

“But I think there was this contribution that was more personal, that also responded to emergencies and that had to be implemented.”

Elsewhere, Charlene, 47, chimed in about their twins, whom they welcomed in 2014.

“The children also help me stay young,” she said. “It’s hard to keep them under control.”

Though the couple’s life may seem picture-perfect to the eye, the pair’s marriage has reportedly been on the rocks in recent years — though these reports have been denied by the duo.

In 2020, Charlene did not return to Monaco following a trip to South Africa. The ordeal sparked rumors of marriage woes, especially after it emerged that she had been spending extended time in Switzerland and would only see Albert by appointment.

At the time, her Instagram account, which boasted 464,000 followers, was also suddenly deactivated.

Albert’s marriage has been the subject of rumors since Charlene reportedly fled the palace before their 2011 wedding — only to return and weep through the nuptials.

Speaking in 2023, the princess denied there was trouble in paradise, telling South African outlet News24 that there was no truth to the chatter.

“There’s nothing wrong with our marriage, and I find the rumors to be draining and exhausting. I simply cannot understand where they come from. It feels to me like certain media or people want to see us split,” she said.

That month, Albert gushed over his wife in an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.

“Charlene is always by my side and supports me in leading the principality,” he told the outlet. “We are a working couple and sometimes that only allows us to see each other at the end of a long day full of appointments.”

Still, in early 2024, Albert was sensationally accused of hiding payments to his ex-lovers behind his wife’s back.
