Mom of Broncos’ Tyler Badie speaks out after his scary collapse
The mother of Broncos running back Tyler Badie thanked fans Sunday for the outpouring of support the family has received after the 24-year-old collapsed on the sideline in Denver’s 10-9 win over the Jets at MetLife Stadium.
In a post shared on X, Tanjala T. Gipson, M.D. uploaded a Badie family pic that was taken before kickoff and featured the running back’s supporters wearing shirts that read, “Let’s Go Ba-Day!”, as well as the bible verse Jeremiah 29:11.
“This photo was taken just before today’s game. God was good then, and God is good now. We may not know what the future holds, but we know Who holds the future. Thank you so very much for your prayers for our son Tyler Badie,” wrote Tanjala, a board-certified, residency-trained neurologist.
The verse referenced on the shirts also reads (via Bible.com): “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”
Badie was carted off in the first half of Sunday’s game after suffering a back injury in the first quarter.
His head hit the turf upon taking a hit from Jets linebacker Quincy Williams and fumbling the ball.
The CBS broadcast then captured Badie lying on the sideline, where he was secured on a backboard and taken off the field.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday that Badie “has full movement in his arms and legs and is back in Denver with the team.”
Head coach Sean Payton said Monday the team is “still evaluating” Badie.
“He’s doing better. Everyone that’s reached out, we appreciate the concerns. Fortunately, he was able to come back before the day ended,” Payton said, according to Sports Illustrated.
A sixth-round pick out of Missouri in 2022, Badie appeared in three games this season and was promoted to Denver’s active roster before Sunday’s contest.
He has tallied 86 rushing yards this season.
The Broncos (2-2) will host the Raiders (2-2) on Sunday afternoon.
