Miami Dolphins wide receiver Grant DuBose has been hospitalized after suffering a head injury during an NFL game.
While facing off against the Houston Texans in Houston Dec. 15, the athlete sustained a helmet-to-helmet hit by Texans safety Calen Bullock during the third quarter.
DuBose, 23, initially received medical attention on the scene. Staff unscrewed his facemask from his helmet and cut off his jersey, before wheeling him away on a stretcher, with his arms and legs strapped down and while wearing a neck brace, according to multiple reports.
“Dolphins WR Grant DuBose has been ruled out with a head injury,” the Dolphins said on X, formerly Twitter. “He is in stable condition and being taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.”
While he was being treated on the field, DuBose’s teammates gathered nearby and huddled in a circle in prayer.
“We all prayed for him as a team,” fellow Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill told reporters after the game, which the Texans won 20-12. “The word is he’s in good spirits right now. He’s moving, so that’s all that matters.”
