Manchester United facing “complex” deal to sign Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United will reportedly need to surmount one huge obstacle that may ultimately force them to part with more millions in their bid to sign Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise.

Olise is thought to be a prime target for United, who are set to dip into the summer transfer window for reinforcements in the attacking department.

In the right-wing position especially, United need more quality options. The ineffective Antony has proven to be a massive disappointment and his days at Old Trafford certainly seem to be numbered.

The Brazilian was poor once again during the club’s most recent clash, a 4-2 win against Sheffield United.

Combine Antony’s disappointing displays with the fact that Jadon Sancho – currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund – is a player United are keen on permanently parting ways with amidst his bitter spat with Erik ten Hag, and it makes sense why United are weighing up a move for Olise.

A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that both the Red Devils’ scouting division and INEOS are in agreement about Olise being the right profile of player to add to the ranks at Old Trafford.

Despite his season being ravaged by injuries, the Frenchman has still put up very impressive numbers. He has so far this term plundered seven goals and four assists in 15 Premier League appearances.

He has particularly struck a formidable partnership with Eberechi Eze and Palace appear to be a more dangerous prospect when the two of them are sharing the pitch. They’ve started only six top-flight clashes together but in that period, they’ve scored or assisted 13 of the London outfit’s 14 goals.

According to BBC, the Eagles will only entertain offers for Olise and Eze that start at the £60m mark or more.

Both their deals have release clauses but the newspaper notes that they’re not the normal type fans have become accustomed to.

It’s understood that a deal for Olise could be slightly difficult to get over the line because there is a portion of money that needs to be paid out not only to his current employer, but also to his former club (Reading), and even the forward himself.

BBC notes, “Palace feel that £60m per player is the starting price for interested teams if they want to enter negotiations. Both Olise and Eze signed long-term deals this season so Palace are in a strong negotiating position.”

“Neither contract contains a straightforward release clause and any deal will be complex with percentages due to the players’ former clubs, the players themselves and Crystal Palace.”

The outlet adds, “The players are happy at Palace and are keen to make sure that any potential move is one that benefits them, with a particular focus on picking a team that will allow them to show their ability on the ball and demonstrate their attacking flair.”

It’s easy to see why United are eager to land Olise. The 22-year-old ranks in the 98th percentile for both goals and assists in the Premier League.

He’s also in the 93rd and 94th percentiles respectively for shots taken on shots on target – the Palace star is a danger on goal and would bring this to United.

In this campaign, Olise has delivered 26 key passes and 79 crosses. In these metrics, he ranks in the 96th and 98th percentile respectively.

Despite the stipulated complexities in any transfer for Olise, United should not be deterred in their attempts to make Olise the latest player to sport the prestigious red colours and badge.
