Man Utd breeze to win, Ipswich stun Spurs

Chelsea vs Arsenal is the blockbuster clash in the Premier League this weekend but three other games were in action ahead of the clash at Stamford Bridge.

Ruud van Nistelrooy was looking for a win in his final game as interim boss before Ruben Amorim arrives, and avoiding defeat would mean his short run in charge would make him unbeaten.

In the capital, winless Ipswich travelled to Tottenham looking for their first three points of the season. Kieran McKenna, a self-labelled Spurs fan would have to lead his side to the perfect match if they wanted to get three points with Ed Sheeran watching on.

And in the Midlands, Nottingham Forest were bidding to go third ahead of the match in West London as they faced Newcastle, a team they have already lost to this season in the Carabao Cup.

It was a comfortable day at the office for Manchester United.

Things got off to a great start when captain Bruno Fernandes found the net 17 minutes in.

He thought he had his second 20 minutes later, but it was officially awarded as an own goal from Victor Kristiansen.

Substitute Alejandro Garnacho then scored a stunner late on to wrap up the points for the hosts.

Ahead of the international break, the Red Devils now sit 13th, just three points off the top six.

The Tractor Boys earned their first win of the season in spectacular fashion at Tottenham.

Sammie Szmodics opened the scoring with an overhead kick 31 minutes in, before Liam Delap added a second just before half-time.

Although Spurs usually manage to fight their way back from deficits at home, this time it was too much to ask.

Rodrigo Bentancur scored in the 69th minute and it looked like Ange Posteoclgou’s men might pull it off.

But Ipswich stood firm for a massive three points.

Nottingham Forest were unable to move into third as they fell to Newcastle.

It was a great start for the Tricky Trees after Murillo put them in front 21 minutes in.

But the Magpies stepped it up in the second half.

Alexander Isak got one back, before Joelinton put the visitors ahead.

And Harvey Barnes got a third with seven minutes to play.
