Man, 24, falls to death from third-story building as NYC marathon runners pass nearby

A 24-year-old man fell to his death from a third-story building near the path of this year’s New York City Marathon, according to the NYPD.

The man, who was not publicly named, fell at around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday as racers were passing through South 6th Street and Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, police said.

The victim was believed to have been watching the marathon runners go by when he plunged the three stories, sources told The Post.

Officers quickly arrived at the scene and found the man unconscious and unresponsive. He was rushed to the New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was declared dead, according to cops.

Authorities said they do not suspect foul play, but the incident remains under investigation.

A man who frequents a bar on South 6th Street told The Post the block is typically quiet and that he hasn’t seen anyone ever go in and out of the floors above the establishment.

The 24-year-old died near the 11th-mile checkpoint by the Williamsburg Bridge, where runners ran north on Bedford Avenue toward Queens.

The New York City Marathon draws hundreds of thousands of spectators to cheer on the racers tackling the grueling 26-mile run through all five of the Big Apple’s boroughs.

More than 50,000 runners signed up for the marathon, with Abdi Nageeye, of the Netherlands, winning the men’s race within 2 hours, 7 minutes, and 39 seconds.

Sheila Chepkirui, of Kenya, took the women’s event, finishing in 2 hours 24 minutes and 35 seconds — just 15 seconds ahead of last year’s defending champion.
