Before Sunday’s game between the New York Giants and New Orleans Saints, a chartered plane circled MetLife Stadium with a banner reminiscent of the famous 1978 protest outside of Giants Stadium.
“Mr. Mara, enough. (Please) fix this dumpster fire!”
The plane circled the stadium five times before exiting the way it came, allowing all those in the parking lot to catch a glimpse, a photo, or a video.
It went viral immediately.
Asked about the protest following a 14-11 loss, rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers paused for a moment and then delivered a take that speaks volumes about the “dumpster fire” the organization has become.
“I didn’t pay for the plane. I ain’t got nothing to say.”

“I ain’t pay for the plane,” Nabers said before turning away from reporters. “I ain’t got nothing to say.”
Nabers could have taken the opportunity to condemn the protest, speak up for general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll, or praise co-owner John Mara. Instead, he punted and his non-answer became a very telling answer.
It’s been clear in recent weeks that Nabers is not on the same page with the current regime and is unhappy with both the play-calling and his role. But above all else, he’s sick and tired of losing.
Welcome to the Giants, rook.
In the end, Sunday’s plane protest, whose architect remains anonymous as of Monday morning, may be too much for Mara to ignore. And Nabers’ response certainly didn’t help.
