Madonna’s son David Banda ‘scavenging’ for food after moving out
Madonna’s son is learning to fend for himself.
David Banda candidly shared that he’s been “scavenging” for food around New York City after moving out of the pop star’s ritzy Upper East Side apartment.
“It’s lovely to experience it being nine o’clock at night, me being hungry and realizing that I don’t have enough money to get food and scavenging,” he told The Sun UK. “It’s fun to be young.”
Banda, 18, lives in the Bronx and has been teaching guitar lessons for extra cash despite Madonna’s estimated $850 million net worth.
“I love it. I’m not on my own, I’ve got my girlfriend,” he said of his partner Maria Atuesta. “But I love it.”
The teen also confirmed that the “A League of Their Own” actress, 65, has been dating Jamaican-born footballer Akeem Morris after splitting from beau Josh Popper.
Reps for Madonna didn’t immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
It’s unclear when Banda moved out of Madonna’s house, but he was by her side throughout her terrifying health scare last year when she wound up hospitalized in the ICU. Upon her return home more than a week and a half later, the Queen of Pop said she was “grateful” to be alive after contracting a severe bacterial infection.
“My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children,” she wrote on Instagram along with a selfie in early July 2024.
Madonna rescheduled her world tour — which would go on to be sued for its late star times — to recover and was frequently spotted with Banda by her side.
Ahead of the “Holiday” performer’s 65th birthday last August, she and Banda were spotted at JFK airport ahead of a getaway vacation.
Banda kept a protective hold around his mother as he guided her through the terminal before getting out of dodge.
