Lucas Torreira nears Arsenal exit amid pre-agreement with Valencia
Uruguayan midfielder Lucas Torreira may finally be on his way out of north London this summer as the 26-year-old has reached an agreement with La Liga outfit Valencia ahead of a possible move away from Arsenal.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano cites Torreira’s agent Pablo Bentancur who shed light on the current situation after Valencia boss Genaro Gattuso is said to want to bring the Fray Bentos-native to the east coast of Spain.
Lucas Torreira’s agent Bentancur: “We have reached an agreement with Valencia, Gattuso wants him. We are gonna discuss with Arsenal – Arteta wants to see him in the pre season”, tells 100% Deporte. 🔴🇺🇾 #AFC

Torreira has been on the outside looking in at Arsenal over the last two seasons and spent the last two years away in Spain with Atlético Madrid as well as in Italy with Fiorentina, where he particularly shined in the renaissance capital while winning multiple player of the month awards for I Viola.
Despite first winning over the hearts and minds of many when he arrived at Arsenal from UC Sampdoria in 2018, Torreira failed to make the grade under Mikel Arteta after the Spaniard replaced Unai Emery, and his future is all but sealed after the Gunners are targeting multiple central midfielders this summer.
Arsenal has already brought in Fábio Vieira from Portuguese giants FC Porto earlier this window, but the club is persistently linked with additional business in the center of the park in the vein of Olympique de Lyonnais’ Lucas Paqueta, Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans, and Lazio’s Sergej Milinković-Savić.
Additionally, Hale End academy graduate Charlie Patino was officially promoted into this first team this summer, proving Mika Arteta with six central midfielders irrespective of any further business.
Though Arteta is said to be interested in taking a look at Torreira during pre-season, all signs point to the Uruguayan departing the club before the window closes.
